What is an Inspection Chamber?

An Inspection Chamber is a chamber on a drain or sewer that has only ground-level working space.

Drain and sewer systems must be accessible for monitoring, inspection, repair, and debris collection.

According to the Confined Spaces Regulations of 1997, operations should be carried out without entering the confined space wherever possible. SfA7 and the National Annex to BS EN 752: 20171 are two important documents.

How does it work?

Inspection Chambers are designed and installed into both Surface and Foul Water pipe systems.

 

Surface water drainage is a pipe system that collects rainwater from roofs, patios, driveways, highways, and sports fields and transports it away. The rainwater, which is not polluted and therefore not harmful, will be delivered to a suitable watercourse, such as a culvert, pond, stream, or river, through a pipework device.

 

Foul water drainage is a system of pipes that transports wastewater away from a building, such as from bathrooms and kitchens. Foul sewers will ultimately transport the contents of the drainage system to a nearby sewage treatment plant for all assets related to mains drainage
