SuDS Enviro Water Management

FLOW CONTROL CHAMBERS

The exceptional SuDS Enviro Flow control systems are designed to affectively limit the flow rate of storm water.

What do flow controls do?

Flow control systems are fitted with a flow control device to regulate the forward flow of storm water within a drainage system preventing downstream flooding during periods of heavy rainfall.

By ascertaining the following design information a solution can be created:

  • Head – Depth from invert level of outlet to the top water level upstream
  • Flow – Required discharge
  • Type of application – for example foul, combined or stormwater
  • Any details of the proposed application, manhole details or control chamber proposals

How do they work?

Valves control fluid flow by hydraulic effect without requiring moving parts. At low flow rates, the valve allows water to enter through the inlet passing to the outlet unrestricted. However, at high flow rates water enters through the inlet with enough energy to create a vortex in the chamber. This vortex controls flow to the specified discharge rate.

What are they fitted into?

They can be housed in various chambers, including prefabricated HDPE plastic chambers which are made to specific requirements according to the application, providing a sealed chamber ready to install complete with a flow control device.

Where are flow controls needed?
Flow Control systems can be used wherever there is a need. Typical scheme applications can include:

  • SUDS schemes
  • Attenuation Storage
  • Velocity Control
